Using the most high-quality materials, ensuring the products and instruments used are paramount to create a clear cut and symmetrical smile each time.

 What is Composite Bonding?

Composite Bonding is a non-invasive dental treatment which is performed to close spaces, restore broken and chipped teeth and even the lengths. The beauty is that it is safe, pain free and there is little or no drilling, therefore most cases don’t need local anaesthetic. This means it is less invasive than other treatments performed, maintaining the health and structure of the natural teeth.

With Composite Bonding there is an option to have pre-bonding whitening, and this is achieved with a course of professional teeth whitening prior to the treatment, which enables the composite to be matched to your desired shade.

How Composite Bonding is achieved?

Composite Bonding is where a thin layer of Composite, is bonded on to the teeth, to change the colour, shape, and size giving a more uniform appearance. The first stage is to clean and prepare the tooth to roughen the surface. A gel material is placed to help the composite microscopically adhere to the tooth, followed by a bonding material to help complement the preparation of the tooth. The composite material is placed and built up in several layers and meticulously sculpted, creating natural textures, and set with a curing light to harden the material. The treatment is completed with polishing for an exquisite finish.

Is there a minimum number of teeth recommended for Composite Bonding?

It is always up to personal preference of an individual and what they are after, although based on aesthetic results, our cosmetic dentists advise how this can often be achieved with 8-10 teeth undergoing Composite restorations, creating a sublime and symmetrical smile.

How long does the treatment take?

The procedure can take 3-4 hours or more, depending on how many teeth is undergoing Composite Bonding. Dextrous care is taken completely on each individual tooth to complete instinctive textures and polish to precision and perfection.

How long does it last?

Approximately 5-7 years, after this time, you may need minimal touch ups or replacements. How long Composite Bonding lasts, depending on how an individual looks after them. It is important a good oral hygiene routine is maintained at home, brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, flossing, and using inter dental brushes. It is also important to attend the dentist for regular checks ups and hygiene visits to ensure the teeth and gums remain healthy. Periodic polishes from the hygienist can help maintain the bonding. Recommendations from your dentist will further help you preserve the appearance of your composite bonding to achieve beautiful long-lasting results.
